Mobiistar XQ Dual: A Phone for Selfie-Mutant

si TeamBeing the second most populous country, India currently boasts of being one of largest smartphone markets in the world. As per a recent study by Counterpoint Research, there are approximately 650 million mobile phone users in India, of which over 300 million users own a smartphone. Also, eMarketer has predicted that the number of smartphone users in India reach 337 million in 2018, witnessing a growth of 15.6 percent. Owing to such positive market statistics, a large number of new smartphone companies are foraying into India, each wanting to create a name for themselves and get a chunk of this massive market segment.

A new entrant to this ever-growing list of smartphone brands in India is Mobiistar, the Vietnamese smartphone manufacturer. The company recently launched two mid-range smartphones – the XQ Dual and the CQ – both aimed at the middle-class segment of the populace. In this article, let us give you a brief review of the Mobiistar XQ Dual smartphone, its technical specifications, and other aspects.

Availability, Variants, & Display Features

Priced similar to its immediate competitors – Redmi, Gionee, and Honor – the Mobiistar XQ Dual is available exclusively on Flipkart
for Rs.7,999. Coming in Gold and Black variants, the devise comes with a 1.5 A – 5V Output charger, along with a screen guard and a transparent back cover. The XQ Dual has a 5.5 inch Full HD Display with a screen resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels, and is equipped with a Finger Print Sensor on the back side of the panel. The entire design of the device’s body is similar to other smartphones, with the only change being the front LED flash located at the extreme right, and the dual cameras at the left.

Device Performance, Battery, & Storage

Powered by a 3000 mAh Li-Polymer battery, the XQ Dual has a 3 GB RAM and an internal memory of 32 GB, which can further be expanded up to 128 GB via an external micro SD card. The device runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 Octa Core 1.4 GHz Processor, which seems a lot more outdated compared to other recently launched smartphones in the similar price range. The XG Dual comes with Android Nougat OS, which is almost two generations old, and no surprises if there won’t be a rollout of the next Android version’s update soon. Just like other smartphones in this range, this device too runs for a comfortable 24 hours with moderate level usage.

The XQ Dual is targeted mainly at the selfie-frenzy youngsters of India. The device comes with a 13 megapixel rear camera and a 13 MP + 8 MP front camera, both equipped with LED flash. Additionally, the front camera is capable of capturing 120-degree Wide Angle Selfies. Despite the front camera capturing exceptionally good images, the pics taken from the rear camera are at times blurry, demanding users to keep their hand perfectly still while clicking pics.

Final Opinion: Overall, the Mobiistar XQ Dual is a hard-to-recommend smartphone owing to the large number of outdated features the device is packed with, the dual selfie camera being the only plus point. If launched for sale only via offline stores in tier-III cities/towns and villages, the device could have easily gathered a lot more momentum, as on Flipkart or any other online e-Commerce platforms, there are a lot better options available for this price.
